Signal Hill Custom Homes with Ocean Views
The Signal Hill Ocean View homes are the product of cooperation between RPP Architects and the most active developers in the Signal Hill area. One of the main goals in the design process was to bring diversity in exterior styling, variation in massing, and to avoid the “tract home” suburban aesthetic in the design process of the six custom residences located on one city block.
Most of the homes have reversed floor plans, with living spaces opening to generous decks on the second floor to take advantage of the views toward the ocean. The Single family residences are approximately 3,700 Sq. Ft., with 4 bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms, and a 3 car garage, all built in 2006.
The diversity of RPP Architects’ design brings individuality, character, and quality to the Signal Hill community.
The biggest challenge faced in the project was compliance with the View Protection Ordinance enforced by the city of Signal Hill. Architect Bozena Jaworski conducted extensive community meetings, followed by public hearings of the Planning Commission. The plans were molded and modified to address neighbors concerns and mitigate the view impact.
