Originally built in 1929 as the Central Office for Telephone Company, the building had undergone many technological modernizations to arrive into the 21^st Century. Designed by Maurice Sasso in Art Deco style had lost its charm and important Art Deco details to allow multiple additions.

The new owner, sensitive to the architectural value of the building met the right Architect, Roger Peter Porter and its team. Between Roger and Bozena Jaworski, both experienced in historical landmarks projects, and under Chris Guldimann, Chipton Ross Project Manager, the old building was brought back to full Art Deco glory.

As a result, the building redefines its presence on 7^th Street and establishes a strong and identifiable entrance to the secure Data Center structure. In the design process number of elements were uncovered, including historical steel windows, concrete walls and floors, structural beams and interior pipes and ducts.

The steel sash windows manufactured by Michel &Pfeffer Iron Works of San Francisco, glazed with wired glass were either protected and preserved in-place, or moved to the new location.

The exterior façade of the original Gladding, McBean terracotta tiles was gently washed, the colors recaptured in the handmade new tiles and transitioned into main entrance flanking pilasters. New concrete planter boxes assist in the entrance identification and security.  The Art Deco iron work on the perimeter of the roof is in conceptual phase, awaiting funding.
